Yahoo doesn’t display Google results anymore

Since last week, Yahoo
doesn’t display Google results anymore
. Yahoo has
started to use its own new search engine software.
Although almost all experts expected it, Yahoo isn’t
replacing Google with its own Inktomi technology. Yahoo
has developed a brand new search engine, based on Inktomi,
AltaVista and AllTheWeb technology.

Yahoo’s search engine spider is capturing the full
text of web pages, up to a 500,000 characters limit.
The new Yahoo search also supports many file types,
including HTML, PDF, and Microsoft Office documents. What does this mean to you and your web site?

Yahoo is a very big player in the search engine market.
Its new search technology will power nearly half of
    all searches
    conducted within the United States.
That means that your web site should have good rankings
in Yahoo if you don’t want to lose customers.

How does Yahoo’s new search engine spider work?

Yahoo’s new search engine spider will follow every target=”_blank” href
link on a website. It seems that it doesn’t follow SRC
links such as images or FRAMES yet.
Yahoo’s spider can follow dynamic links but Yahoo is
advising webmasters to post static pages with text links
directed to specific sections featuring dynamic content.
Another good reason to use a sitemap on
    your web site.

Don’t use shady search engine optimization techniques!

Yahoo has combined its own proprietary anti-spam technology
with Yahoo Mail’s SpamGuard technology to help filter
out irrelevant, redundant or low-quality URLs and links.
Taking advantage of the synergies between Yahoo Search
and Yahoo Mail, these two services will share data to
reduce spam and further improve the user experience across
    Yahoo.
Web sites that try to cheat Yahoo with unethical search
engine optimization methods such as cloaking will have
    a hard time with Yahoo.

That means that it’s more important than ever before
    to use ethical
    search engine optimization methods
    if you want
to get good results on Yahoo.
